The three speaking tâches

Tâche 1 — entretien dirigé (2 min, no prep): the examiner asks about your life, work or studies, and plans. Natural, developed answers score better than memorised monologues.

Tâche 2 — exercice en interaction (2 min prep + 3 min 30): from a scenario, YOU ask the questions. Example from our bank — Son remplaçant: Je suis le (la) secrétaire de votre médecin. Il est en congés et vous me posez des questions sur son remplaçant (nom du médecin, horaires, durée, etc.). You're rewarded for varied, natural question forms covering price, schedule, conditions, and details.

Tâche 3 — expression d'un point de vue (4 min 30, no prep): state a clear opinion on a society topic and defend it. Structure, examples, concession phrases (“certes… mais”), and stamina win points.

How our speaking practice works

  • Topics across all three tâches, with document cards for Tâche 2 like the real exam.
  • Official timing per tâche: preparation countdown (Tâche 2 only), then a timed speaking window.
  • Record with your microphone; save multiple timestamped takes and replay them.
  • Sample interview answers (Tâche 1), model questions (Tâche 2), and argument + rebuttal banks (Tâche 3).
  • ✦ AI Examiner feedback — your recording transcribed and graded with NCLC bands, corrections, and a polished version of your answer (included, no extra charge).
  • Curated useful expressions for each tâche — openings, transitions, closings.

Frequently asked questions

What are the TCF Canada speaking tasks?

Expression orale has three tâches in one ~12-minute session with an examiner: Tâche 1, a guided interview about you (2 minutes, no preparation); Tâche 2, an interaction where YOU ask questions from a scenario (2 minutes of preparation, then 3 minutes 30); and Tâche 3, defending a point of view (4 minutes 30, no preparation). The session is scored 0–20.

What speaking score do I need for CLB 7?

10 out of 20 (NCLC 7 = 10–11). CLB 9 requires 14, and CLB 10 requires 16. Clear structure, varied question forms, and natural connectors matter more than a perfect accent.

Can I record myself?

Yes — that's the core of our speaking practice. Record timed answers with your microphone, save multiple takes, replay them, and compare against model answers, questions, and arguments for the exact topic.

How do the timers work?

Exam mode reproduces the official timing for each tâche — including the 2-minute preparation for Tâche 2, and no preparation at all for Tâches 1 and 3 — so the pressure feels exactly like test day. Practice mode is untimed.
